GYM
Getting You Moving

Install GYM on Android.

Three quick steps. Read each one before you tap. Most "it didn't work" reports are just step 3 being skipped.

⚠ Brave Browser Detected

Brave hangs on large app downloads (you'll see "Downloading…" stuck at 100% forever). This is a Brave bug, not the app.

Close Brave. Open Chrome or Samsung Internet (both come pre-installed on your phone), go to gettingyoumoving.co.uk/android and start again. Takes 10 seconds.

STEP 1 of 3
Tap this big button to download
⬇ Download gym-android.apk
About 280 MB · 1-2 mins on a normal connection
Want a heads-up when there's a new version?

Leave your email below, then create your account in the app with that same email — that's how I find you. Whenever a new version is ready, I'll drop a quick message inside the app with the download link. That's the only thing I'll ever message you about.

After the download finishes
2
Open the downloaded file.

Three ways to find it, easiest first:
Pull down from the top of your screen. Look for a notification that says "Download complete" or "gym-android.apk". Tap it.
• Open the My Files app (Samsung) or Files app. Tap Downloads. Tap gym-android.apk.
• Or back in your browser, tap the 3 dots (top right)Downloads → tap the file. "App not installed" error? You already have an older GYM on your phone. Long-press the GYM icon → Uninstall. Your account, friends and workouts stay safe in the cloud. Then try installing again.
3
Allow the install.

Android will pop up a message:
"For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source."

Don't worry, this is normal for every app that isn't on the Play Store yet. Here's what to do:

1. Tap Settings on that pop-up.
2. Toggle Allow from this source to ON.
3. Press the back arrow (or back gesture).
4. Tap Install.

The app installs in about 10 seconds. Open it, sign up or log in with your email, and you're done. You can turn that permission OFF after. Once GYM is installed, it doesn't need the permission anymore. Go to Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps if you want to revoke it.
Still stuck? Open the matching problem below
The download is stuck at 100% and never finishes

You're probably on Brave. Brave's security scanner blocks large app files. The download bar shows "100%" but the file never actually saves. Brave is the only Android browser that does this consistently.

Fix: Cancel the Brave download (tap the X). Open Chrome or Samsung Internet instead (both already installed on your phone). Go to gettingyoumoving.co.uk/android in that browser and tap Download. Done in 30 seconds.

It says "App not installed" when I tap Install

You already have GYM installed from before. Android won't let two versions sit on top of each other if they're signed differently.

Fix:

Your account, friends, workouts, streaks all stay in the cloud. Sign back in with the same email and everything's there.

I can't find "My Files" or the download notification

Different phones name things differently. Try in this order:

The "Allow from this source" toggle isn't there

Some phones show a slightly different screen. Common variations:

Tap the equivalent toggle and you'll be sent back to install.

Google Play Protect is blocking the install

Play Protect sometimes flags sideloaded apps as a precaution. The app is safe; Play Protect simply hasn't scanned it yet because it isn't on the Play Store.

Fix: When the warning appears, tap Install anyway or More details → Install anyway. If you can't see that option:

It says "There isn't enough storage"

GYM needs about 600 MB free during install (it downloads at 280 MB but expands while installing).

Fix: Settings → Battery and device care (Samsung) or Settings → Storage → Free up space. Clear browser cache or remove an app you don't use, then try installing GYM again.

I tapped Install but nothing happened

Phone may be running on Low Power Mode. Charge to 20%+ or turn Low Power off, then re-tap the APK.

If still nothing: force-close your browser (recent apps → swipe browser away), reopen My Files → Downloads, tap the APK directly from there.

None of the above worked. What now?
